Membership Categories

Paid On-Call:

Covers members who live in Milton or, within eight minutes of the Fire Station and has a desire to be an emergency responder.  These members are permitted to be on call from home and respond to the station when the department is dispatched to an incident. These members are subject to general membership requirements listed above and:    

  • Residency requirement- must live within eight minutes of either Station One or Station Two.
  • Must attend 50% of department trainings and meetings yearly.
  • Must respond to 5% of applicable calls per quarter.

Part Time:

Covers any member that wishes to cover on-duty, day-shift positions paid hourly. Part time classification can be combined with a Paid On-Call position.  Theses members are subject to the general requirements listed above and:

  • Must maintain an EMS certification from the National Registry and the State of New Hampshire as an Emergency Medical Technician or higher.
  • Must be a minimum certified firefighter I.  
  • Must submit a minimum of twenty four hours of availability per month.
  • Must cover a minimum of three day or night shifts per quarter.
  • Must attend 50% of department trainings yearly.

Full Time:

Milton Fire-Rescue currently employs two full time firefighter/EMT’s.  The primary role of these positions it to respond to medical emergencies with the ambulance.  However, each position is accompanied by a more detailed job description outlining additional duties. Full time employees must meet; comply with New Hampshire Administrative Rule part 700 as it pertains to employment of full time fire fighters.

  • Must maintain an EMS certification of National Registry Advance Emergency Medical Technician or higher with an equivalent New Hampshire provider license.
