Fire Prevention

Division of Fire Prevention and Safety

The Fire Prevention Division is overseen by Assistant Chief Taatjes and carried out by Deputy Chief Behrens for public education and Captain Wilder for inspections/code compliance. The Fire Prevention Division is responsible for performing life safety inspections and assure code compliance within the Town of Milton. In addition to code compliance the Fire Prevention Division is responsible for public fire education. This may include, fire drills at the local schools, CPR classes, station tours, and attending Fire Prevention week at local School.

Inspections

The department performs the following inspectional services:

  • Apartment Buildings of 3 or more units
  • Foster Care and Day Care Inspections
  • Wood Stove, Pellet Stove or other inspection required by insurance companies
  • Place of Assembly Inspections
  • School Inspections
  • Oil Burner Inspections (Permit Required)
  • Fire Alarm and Sprinkler Acceptance Testing
  • Plans Reviews
