Township of Milton and Milton Mills Milton Town Seal

Milton was incorporated in 1802 and is located in the Northeast section of Strafford County. The principal villages, Milton and Milton Mills, combine to encompass twenty-seven thousand acres and has a year-round population of approximately four thousand citizens.  Milton is located forty miles from Concord, the state capitol and is twenty miles northwest of the county seat in Dover. The principal bodies of water are Milton Three Ponds, a chain of lakes providing a boat launch and public access to the Town Beach.

The North Conway branch of Boston & Maine Railroad runs through our town and Route 16 (the Spaulding Turnpike) provides fast access to both ski country and the seacoast.

Transfer Station Changes New Hours Effective November 1, 2008

Friday 7-3
Saturday 7-3
Sunday 7-3
Monday 7-3
Closed Holidays

In order to improve efficiency, limit the effect of increasing costs and continue to offer the needed service to the residents of Milton, the Milton Board of Selectmen has recently approved a reorganization that includes new hours at the transfer station.  Under the reorganization, the transfer station will be closed on November 4th, 5th, and 6th, reopening with new hours on November 7th, 2008 and until further notice.  Bob Ferris and Russel Ellis will be retiring and we will begin operating the facility with two full-time attendants.

The Transfer Station will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays and closed Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and holidays.  This will allow us to continue to be open for the most popular days and times and allow us to close two days and have one day for hauling and maintenance that will reduce the need for costly overtime.
