Recycling Guidelines
Items to be disposed in the trash compactor located at the front of the Transfer Station.
- General Household Trash, Shiny Cardboard, Aerosol Cans
- Other types of metal cans i.e. tin, etc.
The following items must be separated from other trash and brought to the back of the transfer station.
- Aluminium Cans
- Corrugated Cardboard
- Scrap Metal
- Tires
- Used Motor Oil
The following Items may be kept together and be disposed of in the containers located at the back of the Transfer Station.
- Newspapers, Magazines, Soft Covered Books
- Glass/ Plastic/ Tin cans/ Higher Performance Polyethylene Pipe Systems (hppe)/ Pet cans/ Steel cans.
Milton Transfer Station - Additional Information and FEES:
Must have a properly placed transfer sticker
Any fees charged for the disposal of solid waste must be paid at the transfer station during regular business hours prior to disposing of waste. Prices effective June 1, 1997. No fees for residential rubbish or recyclable materials.
Recyclables and other items that are deposited in the back of the drop-off area:
- Aluminium Box: beverage cans only. NO pie plates, aluminium foil
- Commingled Box: post consumer plastic, tin and glass. NO wastebaskets, plastic chairs/toys, tin (other than food cans), glass (other than beverage or food). Please rinse bottles & remove caps.
- Paper Box: newspapers and magazines only. NO gift/pizza boxes, beverage carriers
- Cardboard Container: corrugated cardboard only. NO gift/pizza boxes, beverage carriers, shiny cardboard
- Metal Box: all steel, light iron and appliances
- Tires: 13" and under $1.00 each, 14" - 16" $5.00 each, tractor tires $10.00 each.
- Used Motor Oil
- Wood Box: construction and demolition debris including roof shingles, sheetrock, painted or stained wood/chairs/tables, ceiling tiles, floor tiles, etc.
- Bulky Box: bulky waste only, includes mattresses/box spring, rugs, under-backing, large plastic items (toys, lawn chairs, etc.), insulations, TV's, microwaves, vacuum cleaners, sofas, stuffed chairs, etc.
