FEBRUARY 17, 2008 DINNER REVIEW
Chair Valente said we have received more
donations one from David Paey and another from The Trustees of the Trust
Funds bringing the total of $2,228.95 in the Townhouse account to date.
There was a short discussion of grants that
need to be addressed.
Chair Valente introduced the Town’s new
Administrator, Ed Ryan to the committee members and the audience. Ryan said
he is really interested in this project and is willing to assist the
committee with this project.
There was a general discussion about the
Spaghetti Dinner the Committee is hosting at the Emma Ramsey Center
recreation room on February 17, 2008.
COLONIAL PERIOD RENOVATIONS, LLC
Chair Valente introduced John Waitner,
Representing Colonial Period Renovations, LLC, to discuss the process going
forward. Waitner said he would secure the windows, remove the sashes, build
crates to store the window panes inside the Townhouse then restore each sash
and window using a “T-one-11” material for each, individually. Waitner said
a blacksmith could also be utilized in the restoration of the old hardware
on the shutters.
There was a general discussion of the project
among the members and residents in the audience.
John Katwick recommended setting up a detail
process for the removal of bats, storing the windows and putting quotes
together for the immediate needs of the building in order to go forward.
Waitner said the shutters need to be made at the same time the bats are
removed. Waitner and Katwick discussed the use of the Strafford County
Program personnel to assist in boarding up the windows and building the
crates and pricing out the material.
OTHER BUSINESS
Bob McKinley, President of the Historical
Society, said the Robert and Carol Finley Society is offering $25,000 as an
incentive if they increase their membership as this is part of the criteria
of the funding to raise awareness of cultural institutions, such as museums
and libraries.
Bonnie Dunton said she was joining the Conference Council on Fundraising on
the fundamentals of raising money offering workshops which would help
benefit our committee and the Historical Society.
SIGNS
Dunton suggested purchasing a sign displaying the levels of funds we have
raised, what our goals are and progress, then adjusting the sign on a
regular basis as we raise funds to draw the attention of the town’s people.
Tom Gray agreed that having a sign such as this, it would be a good idea for
the public to see a sign displaying progress and that other people have
offered to take on this project in the past and the nothing has ever
happened.
ADJOURNMENT
Chair Valente moved to adjourn the meeting.
Martin seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 6:35 PM.
