The Town of Milton operates under a three member Board of  Selectmen elected for three- year staggered terms.  The Board of Selectmen appoints the Town Administrator and numerous boards, committees, and commissions.

The Town Administrator administers the day to day operations of the Town.  Milton has an elected Tax Collector, Town Clerk and Highway Agent.  The Town has a full-time Police Department, Volunteer Fire and Rescue, a Highway Department, Full-time Assessing, Part-Time Code/Health Officer, and Recreation Department.
