Mark A. McGowan Chief of Police Work Experience: Chief McGowan joined the Milton Police Department in July of 2000. Prior to Milton, Chief McGowan worked for the Farmington Police Department, a neighboring community of Milton. He began his career in June of 1990 in Farmington as an Officer. He quickly began moving up the chain of command. In 1992 he was assigned to the detective/prosecution unit where he handled major criminal investigations and prosecuted all of the district court cases for Farmington. In 1994 he was promoted to Sergeant and shortly returned to the patrol division. In 1997 he was promoted to Lieutenant where he was given more of an administrative position. Using the skills and knowledge gained in Farmington he looks forward to leading the Milton Police Department for several years to come. Hobbies: Mark’s favorite hobbies are fishing, woodworking, skiing and is a huge NASCAR Nextel Cup fan cheering for his favorite driver, Mark Martin. You can almost guarantee that if Mark is on vacation he is at a track somewhere enjoying a race. Personal: Mark enjoys spending time with family and friends. He has two pets, a Great Dane named Norman and a cat named Queenie. Norman is Mark’s second Great Dane, both from the New England Great Dane rescue league. His first Great Dane Dakota passed in April of 2003. Safety Advice:
